DOLCE MANICURE
Holiday shopping can be two months of torture. Debating what to get, how much to spend, where to shop and what to buy; it can seem like way too much work and not nearly enough fun.

Take a break.

Talk yourself into a marvelous manicure and/or a pampering pedicure. To kill two partridges in a pear tree with one rosemary-scented hot stone, take a friend for his/her holiday gift. Material gifts are over. Give an experience, take a picture and make a memory.

For a true holiday treat this season, Caleo Resort & Spa’s Jurlique Spa (4925 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, 480.424.6072) is featuring a special luscious CranMerry package just for the holiday. The CranMerry treatment includes a 60-minute manicure and 60-minute pedicure. Jurlique will provide the fresh fruit and elixir teas made exclusively for your needs: stronger hair and nails, relaxation, circulation, you name it. The spa will lather, rub, relax and beautify your extremities using the exclusive Jurlique product based in Australia. The unique herbal, anti-oxidant blends are free of chemicals, animal content, artificial fragrances and colors. Through the flowered garden and into the quaint cottage feeling cabin of a spa, you’ll feel more like a guest in a high-end Aspen resort than a downtown Scottsdale spa. “Making sure people are comfortable is the most important,” says spa director, Bethany Ganz. And she means it. During your pedicure on a leather-quilted throne you’ll control everything from the temperature to the tunes.

AJI SPA
Named after the Pima word for sanctuary, Aji Spa (5594 W Wild Horse Blvd, Chandler, 888.218.8989) will relax, clarify and simply your experience through serenity and lifestyle traditions of the Pima and Maricopa. As Spa director Kristi Kjar gets her own toes done she says that Aji is the only Native American spa. Showcasing one of a kind hand and foot treatments developed from ancient rituals, Aji incorporates local ingredients like red clay from the Gila River and Cholla cactus bud, “to help purify and rejuvenate the body.” Aji features a Rosemary Citron hand treatment, a Nohnhovie Mandarin manicure and a Hot Rock pedicure. The Blue Sky Foot Therapy begins with an aromatic blue bath followed by a Native Sky salt exfoliation, a massage of Peppermint and Tea Tree Foot balm and ends the 50-minute therapy session with an immaculate pedicure. Just five minutes out of the city at Aji spa and you’ll feel hours away from your world of daily stress and cares.

Featuring holiday-colored polishes (renaissance and jewel tones and of course, golds) with a classy newly re-modeled environment, look for Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Salon and Spa (2472 E Camelback, Phoenix, 602.553.8806), offering an array of nail services. From the simple classic manicure, the Warm Cream manicure shaping your nails and cuticles, massaging and hydrating hands and arms, and flawlessly polishing your nails, to the Red Door Signature manicure adding sugar exfoliation and massages over warm orange-scented towels. To really spoil yourself this holiday season, splurge on the spa’s new Lighten-Up manicure for “get noticed hands.” This specialty three-step treatment includes a mandarin scrub exfoliation, a clay purifying mask and a rich vitamin K moisturizer, leaving hands smooth and lightening spots of imperfection. Don’t feel sorry for your toes, The Red Door has specialty pedicures like the Essence of Lavender, the Sea Spa, the Olive Oil, and the new Heeling Pedi-Cure.

DOLCE MANICURE &
PEDICURE STATIONS
Dolce Salon and Spa (multiple Valley locations, dolcesalonspa.com) and Dolce Barber and Spa offer great pampering for fingers and toes for boys and girls. These salons would be perfect for groups of friends and/or family members to get together and indulge in manicures and pedicures. For men, Dolce’s Barber Shop focuses entirely on tending to the satisfaction and comfort of men. It features Cuccio milk and honey products, low in scent, high in quality. All treatments are named after beers to reaffirm the masculinity of hand and foot care. The Honey Brown Ale and Fire Rock Ale treatments are both for hands and feet, while the Double Chocolate Stout treatment is exclusively for feet. For women, the extensive high ceiling spa creates a super fun and indulging experience. Sitting next to the other gals on red and black pedicure thrones and on the same bench for manicures, up to six of your closest girls will celebrate the holidays as queens - creating memories not hours of return policy clarifications.

Skin Deep Salon and Spa (Central, Phoenix, 602.626.7453) showcases nail services by Lady Bugg Nails. Ms. Lois Bugg (Shadrick) herself is the queen of making your nails work for you. From the second you pick a polish to the minute your leg massage ends, she says her job is to put you to sleep. First an assessment and then a prescription. Want stronger, longer or more sparkles? Whatever it is you desire for your holiday gift to yourself, Ms. Bugg promises to help you reach your nail goal. For the men, Ms. Bugg says if your date is going to get a manicure for the holiday party, it would be wrong not to do the same. Men shake hands daily. Ms. Bugg suggests men keep their nails clean, neat and healthy. If you’re a man who wouldn’t normally think about nail service, Ms. Bugg says there is someone in your life who wishes you would. Try the candy cane peppermint pedicure for a holiday treat. If you’re feeling guilty about not getting your dog a holiday gift, come to Skin Deep for Pawlish for your pooch. As a nail service instructional facility and representative for leading O.P.I. nail polish, Skin Deep is where to find experience, professionalism and a good friend to chat with while you relax during the holidays.
For those looking for a treatment that better fits in their workdays or simply want a different atmosphere—drinks optional—there are other options. Furio (7210 E 2nd St, Scottsdale, 480.945.6600) is much more than just a restaurant. Famous for their signature martinis, Furio offers a martini and a manicure for just $10 on
Mondays. For a similar deal, you can check out Amsterdam (718 N Central, Phoenix, 602.258.6122) where fortune-tellers and manicurists will speculate on your life path and fix your nails while you sip a Cosmopolitan for only $5 from 7 to 11pm on Mondays.
